Transfiguration Sunday – 2 Corinthians 4:3-6

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Transfiguration Sunday is one of my favourite days of the year. It wasn’t always that way as it didn’t seem to make too much sense that Jesus appearing to a select few in really shiny clothes was really that important. But the beauty of the Transfiguration is that we, through the eyes of Peter, James and John gain a glimpse of the glory of Jesus Christ who is so much more than just a good leader, or a wise teacher, or a good example of how we should live our lives.

Sixth Sunday after Epiphany – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

During the first weeks of this year, we have been hearing a lot about new beginnings. The beginning of 2009. We heard about and witnessed the beginning of a new school year. All is new, with all the opportunities and hopes that newness brings.

Fifth Sunday after Epiphany – 1 Corinthians 9:16-23

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Today’s sermon is based on St Paul’s claim, “For although I am free of all people, I have made myself a slave to all, in order that I might win as many as possible.” The question for us today is, ‘are you willing to give up your freedom so others may know Christ?’
