Good Friday – John 18:25-27

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Well it may seem that the Apostle Peter is coming in for some rough treatment this Easter. Last night we heard how Peter swung wildly from not wanting Jesus to serve him, to then expecting Jesus to serve him only on Peter’s terms. Today we hear of Peter’s denial of Jesus. But in Peter’s weakness, we find Christ’s great strength – which proves to be our greatest strength.

Maundy Thursday – John 13:1-17

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

You may be surprised to hear the sermon preached so early in the service. “What’s going on?” you might ask. “Why aren’t we doing things in the normal way?” Well tonight we begin our three day journey to the cross where once more we will be witnesses who proclaim Jesus Christ who has risen in victory over sin, death, and the devil.

Palm Sunday – Philippians 2:5-11

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Today is celebrated as Palm Sunday and it also celebrated as Passion Sunday and in that sense ‘Passion’ means the sufferings of Jesus which happened this during this coming week, nearly 2,000 years ago. I travelled down to Ingham yesterday and we held a service as a congregation called and gathered by the Holy Spirit to give thanks to God for his grace and mercy as he has led his people of Ingham through the recent flooding.

Fifth Sunday in Lent – Jeremiah 31:31-34

Grace, peace and mercy to you from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

As the season of Lent draws to a close and we are approaching Easter, we hear God’s Word in Jeremiah describing how He is going to establish a new covenant with his people. For God to make a new covenant implies there was something wrong with the old one – or that the old covenant had been broken and needed to be replaced.
